500 years ago this Sunday in 1517, Martin Luther posted 95 theses on the door of the Catholic Church in Wittenberg, Germany. The door of the church was the university bulletin board. Martin Luther set the 95 propositions to debate the practice of granting indulgences. Luther’s stinging criticisms of the Christian church struck a deep and liberating chord in the German people and led to the momentous change we know as the Reformation.
